Spurs not only went on to win their 8th FA Cup, but also denied their North London rivals, Arsenal a chance of the double in the process. The talismanic Paul Gascoigne virtually carried the team into the final that year with some incredible performances, as the cup run became a welcome distraction in a year where massive debts meant that the club's very existence was in doubt. The Gunners under George Graham were hot favourites going into the tie, in a season where they only lost once in the league as they went on to win the first division title. But on a scorching day in April, Terry Venables gambled on a half fit "Gazza" and the Spurs manager was rewarded, when the mercurial midfielder scored one of the finest goals ever to grace the Wembley turf. Gascoinge's stupendous 30 yard free kick will be forever etched on every single Spurs fan's memory for as long as they live and it will go down as one of the finest FA Cup moment's in the history of the competition. Gary Lineker then doubled the advantage before Alan Smith got one back before half time, but in the second half Lineker's second goal of the game ensured that the bragging rights would remain with the White Hart Lane faithful, in a quite extraordinary and momentous occasion that will never be forgotten. The scenes of jubilation as the final whistle was blown are something to behold on a historic day for Tottenham, and now you can relive all of those magic moments time and time again.
